Blogs are a mysterious beast to me and e'rry day I try to tackle it and figure it out. I know that it shouldn't be so hard considering I've figured out the whole Adobe Creative Suite... nonetheless.. it most definitely hasn't been easy. Aaaanyhoo, what I'm TRYING to say is that I created some new pages! One is all dedicated to client testimonials. I decided instead of just posting people's comments all boring-like, I'd make them a little more fun to look at. So check out the new page and let me know what you think. The other one is a list of pricing. You and I both know I don't like to talk finances but it's the nature of the beast. (That's my second reference to a "beast". I'm too lazy to change that.)

Stop and Smell the Bacon
Hand-lettering is a new favorite of mine. So I combined that and another favorite of about 90% of the world's population: BACON. It was so fun to do! And yes, I will be selling this print in my etsy shop. Your
kitchens and stomachs can thank me later.

Heather & Curtis' Wedding Announcements
"Amidst winter snow delicate plum blossoms flower in the winter cold as a harbinger of spring and a symbol of perseverance, hope, beauty and the transience of life." That's the quote that Heather wanted on her announcements which I loved because it went with the whole plum blossom theme really well. I absolutely adore Heather and Curtis - they make such a fantastic power couple. I was so happy to design an elegant, timeless piece for them.

A Bestie's Wedding Announcement
Lars is her name (ok, her nickname) and she is one of the bestest friends I could ever ask for. So for her wedding announcements, I knew I had to make it super special. She is a playful, spontaneous, childlike girl that squeezes the most out of life so for her announcements I wanted to show that but with some romantic flavoring in there too. The tree swing that was shown in her engagement pictures gave me the idea to keep the tree theme going so I drew out a heart carved in a tree and hand-wrote all of the information. (Thank you to my kindergarten teacher who inspired me to work towards beautiful handwriting). I also free-handed the "Lauralee & Mike" logo. She loved them and is still receiving rave reviews from invitees.
Fashion Gift Cards
Up until recently, I was a graphic designer for DownEast outfitters. (www.downeastbasics.com)
Making these gift cards was a treat. They were meant to come out around Valentine's Day but we didn't want them to be used ONLY for Valentine's Day so I got to create some feminine patterns, that I absolutely adore, that could be relevant for any time of the year. It was so fun to think of people giving away something I designed as a gift. xoxo!
Jessica & Shea's Wedding Announcements
My darling friends Jessica and Shea got married recently and I was honored to create their wedding announcements for them. Jessica wanted a homemade/vintage look so I happily obliged. These were so much fun to make - it was the first time I tried circle inserts (since I was bored of the square and rectangle ones) and it added to the playfulness of the whole thing and turned out to be a success! Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Stott!

2013 Henna Calendar
Happy 2013 everyone! We're still alive!!!! And look who made a new calendar... I had a roommate that could do henna and I became obsessed with it. Henna designs are the coolest. So I decided to illustrate animals made out of henna which was so much fun. I hope you enjoy!!

Bobby O'Finner
When my youngest brother was about 3 or 4, he wouldn't eat. He just had no desire to. So my dad took to writing a children's book about it. Now, about 15 years later we decided to share it with the world. I've been working on the illustrations and here are the first 3 pages so far.
Oh and don't worry - my brother decided he liked food eventually. ;)

Charming Wall Vinyl
I was asked to put together a fun wall vinyl that had the DownEast feel because it was going to go in all of the stores. I came up with this illustration and I'm really proud of it. Working on this stretched my mind in a way it hadn't been stretched before because of how big and ornate it needed to be.
Live for Pink Typography Collage
DownEast teams up with Live for Pink every year. Live for Pink is an organization dedicated to finding a treatment for breast cancer. To raise awareness, DownEast has a Live for Pink sale every year where they sell all of their pink core items for half off. This is a vinyl banner that hung behind the pink clings. I thought a typography collage would work really well for the cause and for the space and placement of the banner.
Pops Bulla Logo
My apartment doesn't have AC or a swamp cooler. And yes, it's awful. So I'm living off of cold popsicles, soda, cold everything. That's why I'm so excited about this new Utah company called Pops Bulla. Get this: they put cereal (like Fruit Loops, for example) in milk, and then take that milk and make it into a popsicle! How fun is that?! I was asked to create their logo and I had a ton of fun with it. It's a play off of the Sex Wax logo - a surfboard company.
DownEast Email Blasts
A few of the many email blasts I've designed while working at DownEast. Email blasts are fun because I'm allowed to be more creative. *fist pump!*

Biggest Loser Competition
The company I work for is putting on a Biggest Loser Weight Competition. For this poster, I first toyed with the idea of illustrating a tape measurer or a scale but then I realized that illustrating a big belly that almost looked as big as the sun would speak much louder to all the people that need to shed a few LB's. I went for an old screen print feel and used the fonts Headline and Univers.
